With Apologies to Robert Hall who plays the Coroner in the TV Series CST who set this soliloquy in motion and who is or was a 5 times US Senator.

I’m 80. Except for a six-month period many years ago when between jobs, but job-hunting every day, I’ve worked on the farm hard, since I was 16 and the Navy until 24. Despite some health challenges, I still put in 40-hour weeks, and have called in sick several times only in the past 3 years.

I made a good salary as a professional engineer, but I didn’t inherit my job, my skills or my income, and I worked to get where I finished. Given our current economy, with bread at $4.80 on a bad day and the farmer got 20 cents for the wheat after waiting 4 months to harvest and another 3 months to get fully paid, there’s no retirement for me in sight, I have to keep my woodcraft going to pay the increased water and energy bill and I’m tired. Very tired.

I’m tired of being told that our Labor Government has to “spread the wealth” to people who don’t have my work ethic. I’m tired of being told the Government will take the money earned by industry in energy carbon taxes, by force if necessary, and give it to pensioners but more to asylum seekers and people too lazy to earn it. $100,000 each to 50 asylum seekers over the past 2 years.(Labor Policy Dec 8 2009)

I’m tired of being told that I have to pay more taxes and fees to “keep people in their homes.” Sure, if they lost their jobs or got sick, I’m willing to help. But if they bought McMansions at three times the price of my paid-off, $100,000 home, on one-third of my former salary, then turn to the left-wing Fascist State Government who collapsed the former State Bank by lending to political mates and today do billion dollar secret deals with developers and with the greatest of largess with public money, gave away $10 million to 3 developers when the Monarto Gaol project was scrapped,”because it was the right thing to do”.

I’m tired of being told how bad the 2010 SA State budget has to be by left-wing politicians who just gave themselves a hefty 16% Superannuation hike while denying the nurses 2.5% over 3 years. In the next thirty years or bothered to consider waterproofing the nation for food production.

With the World population to increase by another 2.8 billion( U.N.figures) and politicians serve their own way, both the United States and Australia may well have the economy of Zimbabwe , the freedom of the press of China , the crime and violence of Adelaide , the tolerance for Christians in Iran, and the values lost that form the basis of our Rule of Law that has survived for hundreds of years despite military, religious and political juntas to destroy it. .

After living in Libya in 73 and 74, I’m tired of being told that Islam is a “Religion of Peace,” when often I have witnessed first hand and read news stories of Muslim men killing their sisters, wives and daughters for their family “honor”. Of Muslim men affected over some slight offense that quickly becomes “loss of face” to be settled in blood. Of Muslim men murdering the innocents because they aren’t “believers”. Of Muslim men burning schools for girls to leave them uneducated, barefoot and pregnant. Of stoning teenage rape victims to death for “adultery”, and of Muslim men involved in mutilating the genitals of little girls; all in the name of Allah, because the Qu’ran and Shari’a law tells them or allows them to,

…. and I’m tired of radical Islamist men blowing themselves up and killing the innocents in the process believing they will dwell forever in their version of Paradise for having done so.

This State Labor Government has run the state into a debt so large that our grandchildren will be paying for it. The ruling junta will go to great spin to divert attention from the responsibility for the truth.

Barely 800,000 of the total population of 1.58 million provide the revenue by their personal and corporate effort, yet the Government has gambled and lost $2.9 billion of it from investments. Has Treasury become so flush with money that it can afford to ignore this huge loss? or paying the debts? or making no attempt to recover $184 million from over 500,000 unpaid fines – one third of the entire state population?

Is the rest of the State just the milch for this citycentric mentality?. Think about it, Dear Reader. The city is a constant liability. It provides no wealth for the community and drains the resources provided by the rest of the State.with little and nothing provided by Government in return. Is the pre election Holloway plan to increase city population by another half a million souls 30 year wizardry?. A plan that makes no mention of the infrastructure to support such an increase.

Almost as bad as the Treasurer pontificating that the $8 billion owed to the Public Service “would be on track by 2034” – 25 year wizardry.

A Fascist State ? This is Mussolini’s definition quoted in Harpers January 2002. ” Fascism should more properly be called corporatism, since it is the merger of State and corporate power”
A Fascist State? Public-Private Partnerships? Secret meetings with PPP developers? If the ICAC was only created for this practice that has surfaced since THAT hospital became an issue , it would be the best thing to stop the selling out the State tax revenue for profit of a few.

It has turned politicians into bigger frauds, increasing taxation while changing a democracy that elected them into a corporatocracy. Constantly spinning the illusion that expanding the Public Service is evidence of a State in control. The cost of Governance then increases proportionately to show ” achievements” while in office, and the PPP’s transfer the tax into their bank.

Mussolini’s definition of fascism clearly fits the pattern of governance in SA where almost all of the traditional liabilities and responsibilities of Government in a transparent and accountable democratic society are sold off. SA Water is but one example, and the $10 million paid to 4 PPP developers for scrapping the Monarto Gaol project,” because it is the right thing to do”, is another.

But the biggest fraud is to constantly spin the cost of THAT hospital at $1.7 billion when in fact it would cost $8 billion if built by a PPP developer and bankers financed over 30 years. But coincidentally, the annual cost of principle and interest is exactly, and I mean exactly, the $264 million a year Mr. Rudd has promised SA to Federalize the health system. Coincidence?

Soon, there will be fewer teachers unless the Education system recognises the other part it plays in bringing up children to be acceptable to the society in which they live. Where parenting is failing, who or what else is there?

The grandiosities of super schools and the billionitis big shot mentality of politicians is unreal. Our State is broke. With more than $8 billion liability to the PS non existent, over $2 billion shortfall in Work Cover and over $2.9 billion of the revenue “lost from investments” instead of paying the bills over the past few years, we need to stop the PPT – Politics of Party Tenure. “TAXPAYERS may never know if they were tricked into overpaying United Water millions of dollars because the company and the Rann Government are seeking an out-of-court settlement. The Supreme Court yesterday heard the parties are trying, behind closed doors, to resolve claims United Water inflated its rates so taxpayers would fund its international operations” ( AdelaideNow, March 13)

Of course, Mr Rann would avoid any further erosion of the credibility or honesty and transparency of his Government! These are public funds and we are all shareholders and I am surprised that the Court did not give merit to the transparency of Government business. This is just another dimension to how the process of privatisation to rein in previous Labor Government debt has become the basis of an urgent need for scrutiny by an ICAC much closer to the smoke than Canberra.

The new Labor Government concept of Government responsibility for public funded utility infrastructure is to just count the beans after such responsibility is “taken over” by high flying PPP developers. There is an obvious need for credibility, and must not only be seen to be a fair and honest deal but prove to be so. Secret meetings between Ministers paid for by developers created some grief for the Opposition bemoaning a “level playing field”.

Indeed, any connection between the French firm and the desal plant becomes suspect for not only the cost and the convenient “blow out” to follow but the use of public taxation funds in the process.

Kelly of Flinders Park @#16 http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/news/in-depth/new-109m-vow-to-cut-waiting-times/story-fn2sdwup-1225838412583 provides a good reason for the abusive mob of boozed and bombed out airheads to be denied the facilities of a free medical system for their over indulgent selves.

Make them pay for the results of self infliction will release staff and beds for more important and urgent tasks. Bill the cost of Police, ambos and cas staff for all drug and booze related consequences, then let us see. 1 in 5 road deaths are drug related, the 60 deaths a week from booze, the death of children from neglect of drug related parents, and young women dying from dirty drug overdose. Start charging the dealers in SA with attempted manslaughter as in NSW and confiscation of assets to the State to fund rehab will see numbers drop. But this junta is only concerned with its Party tenure from one election to the next and the community is denied

The full story of pre election promise to provide $109 million to free up waiting times to 4 hrs in the city hospitals is at http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/news/in-depth/new-109m-vow-to-cut-waiting-times/story-fn2sdwup-1225838412583

The Treasurer has waded into the Opposition costings of that hospital. Well, here is a short list of Foley’s costings. $8 billion liability to the Public Service “will be on track by 2034″ and almost $2 billion for Work Cover unfunded. $53 million for the Clipsal property that remains idle and over 8000 cars with 7 accidents a day costing $1.7 million a year in repairs. The $10 million paid to the proponents of the now discarded plan for the Monarto gaols,” because it is the right thing to do” is another matter.

The software system scheduled for completion in 2011 was contracted at $22 million and last year reported blown out to $45 million and no completion in sight. The yearly hand outs to the 250,000 pensioners and disadvantaged announced by the Premier is already being collected from the increased registrations and service charges.

But the biggest problem is the arrogant assumption that the ruling junta can override the rise and rise of independents. Sure, they will be inexperienced but we can live with that if they tell the truth. Think about the mess that experienced politicians have made because of the Party system serving its Party tenure interests and turning otherwise good and competent people elected to the Parliament into Party hacks …and very ordinary ones at that.
