Is That Hospital Fading Away?

Posted on: March 2, 2010

It had to happen. The political grandiosity of the new RAH proposal by this State Government, after so much glitz and TV fly through remains just that and the Premier’s tears that Labor could not “get the message across” is tantamount to finally recognising that firstly the State cannot afford it and secondly, an analysis of the detail since Mr. Hill first put the notion of a PPP project showed serious flaws in the planning. Maybe impossible to fix before being carried to construction, not only justifying a rethink on practical grounds, but the secret deals with developers and manner in which the project would be funded remain suspect. However, the intervention into health delivery by the Federal Government announced today may allow the Premier a less painful exit to the proposal – an excuse to drop it for another time.
