Mr. Rann is off to get Tough on Emissions

Posted on: December 11, 2009

Mr. Rann off to Copenhagen for his holiday break, it will be interesting if he is able to change the perception of Don Qixote attacking the windmill. If nations are unable to reach a consensus, then what effect would our little state of barely 1.54 million souls have on the outcome? We are unwilling to address our own problems.

The target for the World is too big and complicated to be achieved by just one nation or just one state. The pledging of billions will not address the practical issues of a united action between nations that has never been achieved on unrelated issues. But we will wait and see and our Mr. Rann is already there. He could make an effort for universal curbs and controls over the emissions of methane, nitrous oxide, hydroflourocarbons, perflourocarbons and sulphur hexaflouride and detail practical alternatives to their production and use.

In the meantime the 100 or so bushfires raging in NSW will discharge thousands of tons of CO2 into the atmosphere in just a few hours, a huge impact on climate that has not been mentioned, while offers of money dominate the issue.
