Headline: Farmers Reap $2 Billion Crop

Bunkum!….. Farmers will reap nothing. It is the banks who have carried the drought stricken farmers for the past 4 years who will reap the benefit of an average year, and just average it is. It will take another two seasons better than this one to break the debt load on food producing farms.

How are crops going in your area? We’re a bit insulated here in the Lower South East.

A phone around today suggests that some parts are below expectations and some parts above with timing having been a determining factor with the intermittent rainfall and very windy dry days to follow.There is a reference to the filling of Lake Eyre being partly responsible for a break in the drought and that created a local climate shift. While there is water in the Lake, there may be some confidence of recovery over the next few years…
