New Murray River Tourism Plan

Posted on: August 8, 2009

Plan to launch tourism

It is to be commended that a new local focus on the value of tourism has been launched. While the intention is to spread the opportunities for visitors it must be recognised that the river and its environs remains the main attraction for a greater number of people and a greater number of reasons. It is well that the Jail project has been scrapped. It has no place in an expanding urban environment. The Opposition has no comment on the $10.5 million paid for the pretty pictures of the project-an amount lost to tourism or to any other. Until there is a worthy independent, the NationalsSA perhaps, with a more serious attitude to governance by community values instead of narrow party interests, all of the Murraylands will struggle on their own for a better regional outcome.
