Youth and Binge Drinking

Posted on: July 21, 2009

If we not reverse the trendy trends for bringing
up children over the next 20 years there will be greater problems to deal
with. The reasons are so obvious. The Education system must come down from
its pontificating perch of Blooms Taxonomy LaN and see into the Casualty
departments of the hospitals, read the paper and listen to a father who
was charged for assault for trying to get his 15 year old daughter away
from her binge friends. We need to restore the community values that have
made this a happy country – the envy of the World.- and they must be
taught and enforced in schools from Kindy to age. 12 -at the very least.

If we do not reverse the trendy trends for bringing up children over the next 20 years or so there will be greater problems than binge drinking to deal with. The reasons are so obvious. The Education system must come down from its pontificating perch and recognise the obvious, that teachers have a role to play in bringing up children to be acceptable to the society in which they live. What is the use of the Three R’s when the other two are missing, Respect and the Rightness of Things. See and feel into the Casualty departments of the hospitals, read the paper and listen to the anguish of a father who was charged for assault for trying to get his 15 year old daughter away from her binge boozing friends. We need to restore the community values that made this a happy country – the envy of the World.- and they must be taught and enforced in schools from Kindy to age 12 -at the very least.
