Booze and Brawls

Posted on: July 21, 2009

Send them the bill for the costs of intervention. Why should folks home in bed pay?If police and ambulance are called to a brawl it would seem out of Australian character and sense of fair go and mateship for the antagonists to be allowed by their friends to get that far in the first place. The mates are as much responsible as the antagonists and should be all rounded for not averting  the obvious outcome – and bill each and every one of them for their share of the costs. Then perhaps mateship and the Australian character will mean something at home – not only on the battlefield.

I feel very strongly about this and you are absolutely correct!
To round every one up and make all parties responsible sends a message on all levels.

Veronica – it is a sad indictment of Government policy that drunks , male and female, are sitting in the gutter at 2 am in West Terrace and Hindley Street bombed out to the eyeballs who are recovered by the ambos after the police are called. Who then abuse and physically assault those who are trying to help them. Beating up the Casualty staff at the hospital is common. Folks home in bed are paying for all this. We believe the user pays principle should apply.

Its happening all over too! The Courier Mail in Brissie reports a knife weilding patient who threatened a Nurse inside the treatment area of the Nambour hospital.

The police found the man outside and close to the hospital and cant charge him apparently because the emergency department was not considered a “public” place.

Perhaps we are all going nuts?

All the namby pamby types that reject capital punishment!! There is your result. Whatever was wrong with a kick in the pants from the local peeler?

Just a touch of fear will produce respect.
