Bail or Jail for Drug Dealers?

Posted on: July 20, 2009

Young people, one as young as 9, have died because the drug dealers are let out on bail to continue trading after the police have gone to a great deal of expense and effort to nail them It makes no sense that the law denies the impact on the community in favour of the law. But the Courts and the judiciary have the powers to reduce court delay and jail on the spot, confiscate assets. Imagine, a drug sting that risked the life of a policewoman took 5 years to sentence the dealer and during that time the path is swept clean, associates warned off and another 5 years of making money, large amounts of it, while the young die, ambos and hospital staff are beaten up. Put the dealers away, treat the drug user. $50 million paid recently for a piece of dirt would have been better spent fixing whatever it cost to do so.
